Tron Bike Reaches a Photon Emission Milestone

This is my Bicycle. I love my Bicycle. It's a Nishiki Rally lit to the extreme.
Here I am riding it for the first time after a heap of new lights have been added.

Too big to fit! (My first HD YouTube video)

Simon Clay and I created a pretty awesome switch box for most of the components. It currently controls:
1 Rear Red LED ring
1 Blue Silicon LED ring (around the crank)
2 Sequence LED strips on the fenders
1 Blue LED ring under lighting the switch box
I have dubbed the box "The Simonizer"
It works with any light components wired up with headphone jacks. I've got about 3 extra slots to use, and if I need more, I can simply use a splicer.

Not controlled by the Simonizer, but also on the bike:
2 8ft Blue EL wire kits line the wheels
1 15ft Green EL wire kit on the frame
2 Monkeylectric kits on the spokes
Regular white LED headlamp, and a red rear light.

So check out the fun times that were had photographing it in my flickr set here.

Edit:
Forgot to add some footage I took with my digital camera. There's a few closeups to show off the different parts.

Bicycle Adventure Series #1: March 22 / 2009

Equipment:
Camelpack, Fruit Leather, Craisins, Granola, +1 Paintbrush, Watercolors, Blocks,

Started out from the west end and headed down Adanac. I crossed the Second Narrows Bridge for the first time. It is mighty scary. Building up a lot of speed on such a narrow walkway with low railing is as dangerous as it gets in my world. Took the Dollarton Hwy for a scenic ride up to Deep Cove.

Hunkered down to paint around Dollar St. and Dollarton...
Found a nice boat in the water to paint. Bit of a caricature, as the angle I had was a little boring.

Came back home by the scenic sea wall route, lights on for the early dusk.
Approximate distance: 40km

Summer is arriving. Bike fix time.

New bike parts being attached! Stay tuned.

Mega Ton Update

All hail lord Intertron, bringer of new web services!
While you quiver in fear from him, I must pay tribute and update my websites, do my taxes, kick a puppy, and run through my quasi annual technology catch up.

So while you were reading that paragraph, I updated my:
Home Page
Portfolio
Rosenpig
Stat Page

And I did some catching up:
Twitter
LinkedIn
Rosenpig on Facebook

Still on my to do list:

Why so quiet?

Why does it appear as though I've little to no artwork in the last year? Well, let me explain a bit about the video game industry. They take their NDA's (non disclosure agreements) seriously. So basically, until the project I'm working on is revealed to the public, my work and I are contained in a stealthy submarine. I can probably say that I'm quite proud of a lot of the work I've created. I'm definitely eager to share and will as soon as I get the oks.

Luckily I get the chance every once and a while to work on something completely unrelated. I just did a couple concept pieces for a friend (who looks like Doctor House) working on a children's book.

Hoot!

My Bicycle

I proclaim my Bicycle to be ridable art! Behold my latest creation:

It has taken about a month of waiting for various parts to arrive in the mail and far too many customs charges. It's still a work in progress. The next thing to do is install my clear blue pedals and get some LEDs to light them up. I've still got some red wire which I might put on the back of a jacket or line my helmet or some goggles with, if I can keep it safe.

Elliott Brood featured on MySpace front page

http://www.myspace.com/

For the time being, the front page of MySpace looks as above.
It's fantastic to see the guys getting publicity like this, which I'm hoping means more fans and more attention.

You can check out some of the videos on their sidebar. I had a hand in a few of them, so shameless plug, but do go and enjoy it all. Great new tunes for sure!

Almost Ready to Paint

Just as the weather is getting good here in Vancouver, I'm getting ready to shut myself in with a new computer. If I can afford it, I'll soon be picking up a 12" cintiq and a document projector to rough work onto canvasses. Then I'll be trying to put together a collection of work for show. Two small shows worth, within the next year is my goal. Having a studio / apartment to paint in has been a dream of mine since I was fourteen. Though I still don't have the skylight I always wanted, I'm going to try my best to take advantage of my new space.

A trip to Opus for fresh art supplies and I'll be ready. But first a nice lazy Monday in the sun - since everyone's probably closed today anyway.

Rosenpig Pitch Pack Public Purview

If you're excited about Rosenpig, this is the right place to be. The little guy has been optioned by Bardel Entertainment. So in the interests of buzz generation, here's the pitch pack pdf that sold him:

Rosenpig Pitch Pack 2007

Seriously though... read the episode springboards. Everyone just looks at the pictures and it makes me so sad, because my favorite part is the story section. Enjoy.

Something Random

From the random file, I bring you:

beep boop bop, what the?!

Let's get it all out. The nerd; out with it.

Here it comes... some super nerdy filth I'm scraping off my hard drive just to keep it occupied. I've got to get back to the serious brooding work of an introverted artist, so this is all an attempt to get the nerd out of my system.

Loose quick sketches, all.

Hello 2008

I would like to think that setting some of my goals for the next year will help me achieve them. I've recently moved into a new apartment with plenty of space for creativity. Last year I was still in the midst of optioning Rosenpig, so it was very hard for me to start up new projects without some closure on that.

Now that I have it and things are moving along without me, I'll be looking for new outlets.

1. I've begun writing again and hope to have my novel finished sometime before it goes double gem encrusted platinum (I think books do that, don't they?).

2. I've got some canvasses ready to be painted here, that I'm going to start in on very soon.

3. I miss the cottage, so I'll probably head there for a week this summer. Then perhaps I'll go somewhere crazy; Japan is top of my list. I shall bring my supplies and do a lot of watercolor work while I'm there.

Zombiewalk 2007

The Zombiewalk went very well this year. You can check out the flickr sets (including last years) here:

I think the turnout was pretty good this year.

Second Son - Concepts and Video

This is two years old by now, but I'm still fond of the concept art, so I thought I'd collect some stuff and pop it up.

The band Elliott Brood happened to see the Rosenpig film that I'd made and enjoyed the old fashioned sensibilities. They acquired me and my small team to make the video for "Second Son."

Here it is...

Occupied - Enjoy the Service!

If you like cute things and live in Vancouver there's a shop you have to visit in Gastown, (Abbott near Water Street). It's called Occupied, and it's full of outrageously lovable items. For the Rosenpig fans, they've currently got a small stock of Rosenpigglets available.

While you're there you can now enjoy some Aaron and Erica artwork. Last weekend we had much fun recreating the shop's logo and slogan, and putting up some cutie pie mushroom buddies.

If you're not in town, then you'll be happy to find out they've got an online shop from which you can peruse the height of cuteness and fashionable plush.

iLaugh Power Couple

There's an exciting festival that both Erica and I have submitted films to. However, an eerie undercurrent of scary comments has been flowing through the contest. An entire soap opera has been created within them!

To start, watch my film, and Erica's film.

Erica's Film: A Peach for the Teach
Aaron's Film: The Catshow

Now, you'll notice some characters in the comments:
Jared is the self appointed festival critic. He has infuriated many with scathing reviews. His resume consists of: winning second place in a doritos contest. (I must admit to enjoying his films, however.)

Jared's Film: Sumpin Sweet
Jared's weird, ousted alter ego's film: iLaugh

The Gerbert Brother's are the self appointed Sherlock Holmes and Watson of the festival. Up until a few days ago, it was impossible to tell who submitted which film, but the Gerberts were first to notice that Jared was seemingly having conversations with himself after the author's names were made public.
Jared's arch enemies, the Gerbert Brothers' film: The DB Wentworth Debacle

So you'll notice a slightly annoying character named silverscreen jean ragging on Erica in her comments section. It now appears that this is a Norman Bates type character of Jared's. We have yet to figure out if Jared is some sort of official plant for the festival who's job it is to aggravate all the artists submitting films. We know for certain, however, that the whole thing is hilarious!

There is a scene in the Catshow which specifically references the chocolate cake from Jared's film. It is a symbolic gesture of contempt for his unwelcome reviews.

If you've managed to skim through some comments sections and familiarize yourself with the characters at play... you are ready for:
A film seemingly inspired by myself, Erica, and Jared's creepy obsessive reviews. It is a mashup of many submissions.

Tony's Film: Time Fly

Feel free to sign up, rate and comment on films! Enjoy the craziness.
